  • 上京
  • 最初、南部民謡を夏坂菊男氏に師事
  • 津軽民謡を中村隆志氏に師事
  • 17歳のとき、初めて民謡コンクール全国大会で第２位となる（津軽山唄）

昭和40年

  • フジテレビ「素人名人戦」第９代名人となる。
  • NHKオーディション民謡、歌謡曲ともに合格

昭和43年

  • （財）日本民謡協会全国大会個人の部で「ホーハイ節」、「謙良節」」で東芝レコードよりデビュー
  • 特に地元津軽民謡、南部民謡を得意とし、歌唱力は男性NO1と言われ、特異なキャラクターを生かして民謡だけでなく、歌謡曲も幅広く歌っている
  • NHKを始め、全国の放送局でラジオ、テレビに出演。
  • また舞台でのコンサート活動も多忙を極め、日本全国はもちろん、アメリカ、ヨーロッパなど海外へ文化使節団の重要なメンバーとしても加わり、演奏活動を行う。
  • また、最近は全国各地でトークショーが大人気。
  • 唄とおしゃべりで熱烈なファンを笑いと興奮の渦に巻き込んでいる。
  • 「ケンちゃん」の愛称で全国に日増しに多くのファンをふやしている。
